Israel Kills 5 Journalists in a Horrific Massacre at Nasser Medical Complex
Early Monday morning, 20 people were killed, including five journalists and a civil defense worker, in a bloody massacre committed by Israeli forces targeting the fourth floor of Nasser Medical Complex in southern Gaza.
The Government Media Office announced that the number of martyred journalists has now risen to 245, following the killing of five journalists in the latest attack on Nasser Hospital.
The office mourned the following journalists:
• Hussam Al-Masri, photojournalist for Reuters
• Mohammed Salama, photojournalist for Al Jazeera
• Maryam Abu Daqa, journalist working with several outlets including Independent Arabia and AP
• Moaz Abu Taha, journalist for NBC News
• Ahmad Abu Aziz, journalist for Quds Feed Network and other media platforms
According to the statement, the journalists were killed when Israeli forces launched a deadly strike on a group of reporters who were on a press assignment inside Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, southern Gaza. Many others were also killed in the attack.
The Government Media Office strongly condemned the deliberate targeting, killing, and assassination of Palestinian journalists by Israel, describing it as a systematic war crime.
It called on the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ), the Arab Journalists Union, and all press organizations worldwide to denounce these ongoing crimes against journalists and media workers in Gaza.
The statement held Israel, the U.S. administration, and countries complicit in the genocide — including the United Kingdom, Germany, and France — fully responsible for these heinous crimes.
The office also urged the international community and press-related organizations around the world to:
• Condemn Israel’s crimes,
• Hold it accountable in international courts, and
• Take serious and effective action to stop the ongoing genocide, protect journalists in Gaza, and end the deliberate targeting and killing of media professionals
